History

Started with the two highly degraded landscapes, Yamuna and Aravalli Biodiversity Park have to come to represent today the very best urban landscape which not only preserves the biodiversity of Delhi region but also render a variety of ecological services to the urban society. With the success and all time appreciation by the nation and dignitaries from all over the world, Delhi biodiversity foundation have notified 4 more biodiversity parks viz. Kamla Nehru Ridge, Tilpath Valley, Neela Hauz and Yamuna Riverfront.

Below is a chronology of important dates and developments in the history of these parks.


The Foundation of Aravalli Biodiversity Park was laid by Shri Lal Krishna Advani, Deputy Prime minister of India.

Initiation of plantation by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Shri Vijai Kapoor in Yamuna Biodiversity Park

First Night Camp organized in Aravalli Biodiversity Park

Visit and plantation by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Shri B. L. Joshi in Yamuna Biodiversity Park

Hon’ble Chief Minister of NCT Delhi Smt. Sheila Dixit planted a Mahua sapling at Yamuna Biodiversity Park.

Vice Chairman DDA Shri Dinesh Rai had visited the Yamuna biodiversity park and praised its establishment and development.

Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister for urban development, Shri Jaipal Reddy planted a Madhuca sapling in Yamuna Biodiversityn Park.
